My Work! Mermaid Days a Scholastic Acorns Series
I love drawing mermaids so when I received a project to illustrate a series with Scholastic, my heart skipped a beat. Mermaid Days is a series with Scholastic’s Acorns easy reader series. These are really fun graphic novel type books that are written with early readers in mind.
The stories revolve around the main character, Vera, who is outgoing, friendly and curious and her bestie Beaker who is a shy octo-kid.
Currently there are three in the series.
Mermaid Days 1: The Sunken Ship
Swim along with mermaid Vera and octo-kid Beaker! In these three stories, Vera and Beaker go on adventures in their town of Tidal Grove. They explore a sunken ship, and Vera helps Beaker with an unusual octopus problem.
Mermaid Days 2: The Sea Monster
In these three stories, Vera and Beaker make new friends both big and small. First, they go on a field trip to the tide pools and meet the small animals who live there. Then, Vera and Beaker meet friendly sea monsters, and show them around the town of Tidal Grove!
Mermaid Days 3: A New Friend
In these three stories, Vera and Beaker make a new friend with a powerful baby mantis shrimp. Together, they explore the town of Tidal Grove. Then they play fun underwater games! Young readers will love discovering Vera and Beaker’s funny adventures and learning nonfiction information about mantis shrimp.
These books are advertised to be appropriate for kids ages 4-6 and grades preschool through first grade. They are 64 pages in length and printed in full color.
