A Beginner's Guide to Success with Casetify

As an artist, Casetify can be a nice source of passive income. I've had my Casetify shop for about a year and I've been doing pretty well. All you need to do to open a shop is contact Casetify using a form on this page. You should have some work to show them (since you have to be approved to open a shop). If you don't have a website, you can set up a portfolio on a website like Behance for free. If they like your work they will send you an email with instructions on how to set up your shop by uploading a few designs and later setting up your Paypal info for getting paid.

Tools of the Trade - Skillshare Class Review

Bonnie Christine’s Intro to Surface Pattern Design: Learn Adobe Illustrator | Create Patterns offers both instruction in how to use Adobe Illustrator and also how to create patterns using the software.

First of all I’d like to say that Bonnie Christine was a great teacher. Not only was her information very valuable and helpful, she was very sweet and easy to listen to. Tools of the Trade - Skillshare Class Review

Skillshare is a learning community for and by creators. Lessons are taught through a series of easy to digest video lessons which are sometimes accompanied by additional materials. Lessons will usually have at least one main assignment with smaller tasks that lead up to a finished product. Although not required, you can upload your projects and progress to an online community to get feedback and share your work as you go. I would recommend signing up for a Skillshare account. You can get access to thousands of online classes for as little as $8 a month.

WIP Wednesday

I actually am juggling a few job related things (that I sadly cannot share) so I thought I'd share a personal project I'll be working on as time becomes available. I have always been attracted to surface and pattern design. Even when I was little, I believe I was unconciously drawn to print and pattern because I really enjoyed looking at lovely packaging, stationery and greeting cards. I used to hoard my favorite cards I received on birthdays and holidays in a box. I still do keep our kids cards now.

This personal project I'm creating is a surface design collection. I've taken a few Skillshare classes (list below) to help me learn and understand what it takes to get into surface design.
